Indonesia team makes semi-finals

25th September, Ashgabat: Indonesia's quartet made the Team of Four semi-finals at the 5th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games after finishing second in the 6-games preliminaries as Korea's men and women advanced to the semi-finals as topseeds.


Diwan Rezaldy, Fachri Ibnu Askar, Billy Muhammad Islam and Hardy Rachmadian, who topped the first block of 3 games contested in the morning, kept pace with the Korean men after the latter took over the running at the start of the second block.

Korea's Choi Bok Eun, Cho Young Seon, Kim Kyung Min and Kang Hee Won, who were second to the Indonesian team in the first block, reeled in big games in the fourth, fifth and sixth games to win the preliminaries with 5443.

Indonesia finished second with 5280, 164 pins ahead of the fast-finishing Chinese Taipei's Tsai Ying-Hao, Chen Chia-Hsing, Teng Jui-Pu and Wu Hao-Ming in third with 5116. Qatar's Jassim Al-Muraikhi, Saoud Ahmed Abdulla, Yousef Al Jaber and Ghanim Aboujassoum also stormed home in the second block to snatch the fourth and last semi-finals spot with 5111.

Thailand missed the cut by 48 pins in fifth position with 5063. China, who was third in the first block and had remained third after the fourth and fifth games, dropped out of the top four to end in a disappointing fifth.



Indonesian quartet advancing to the semi-finals as second seed

Making the semi-finals will assure Indonesia men of a medal of this competion. Korea will face Qatar and Indonesia will meet Chinese Taipei in the one-match semi-finals tomorrow. The winners will advance to the September 27 finals while the losers will earn a bronze medal each.


Meanwhile, Indonesia's Alisha Nabila Larasati, Nadia Pramanik, Aldila Indtryati and Singles silver medallist, Tannya Roumimper was in a good position throughout the second block to make the cut but dropped to sixth position after a poor final game.

Korea's Kim Moon Jeong, Hong Hei Ni, Singles gold medallist, Baek Sung Ja and Jung Da Wun easily won the 6-games preliminaries with 5004 after a keen tussle with Chinese Taipei quartet. Philippines' Liza Del Rosario, Alexis Sy, Lara Posadas and Krizziah Lyn Tabora stormed home to snatch second spot with 4896.

Zhang Chunli, Peng Rui, Yang Liyan and Doubles gold medallist, Zhang Yuhong anchored China to third with 4853 while Chinese Taipei's Pan Yu-Fen, Lin Ting-Yu, Wang Ting-Wen and Wang Ya-Ting slipped down to fourth but qualified for the semi-finals with 4815.

Thailand missed the cut by 18 pins after finishing fifth with 4797. Korea will face Chinese Taipei while Philippines will square off with China in the one-match semi-finals tomorrow. The winners will advance to the September 27 finals while the losers will earn a bronze medal each.



Indonesian women missing the cut by 21 pins

The women's semi-final matches will be contested in the morning and the men's semi-final matches in the afternoon. The women's and men's final matches will be staged on Septmber 27. All matches will be individually telecasted LIVE on local TV stations.
