Indonesian men takes home bronze

26th September, Ashgabat: Second-seed Indonesia were ousted by third-seed Chinese Taipei, 730-784 in the second Men's 4-player Team semi-finals match of the 5th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games to take home the bronze medal.


Diwan rolled 192, rookie Fachri 173, Billy 180 and Hardy 185 lacking the stunning performance shown in yesterday's preliminaries. Chinese Taipei's Tsai Ying-Hao managed only 174, Chen Chia-Hsing 183, Teng Jui-Pu 203 and helped by Singles bronze medallist, Wu Hao-Ming with 224 to beat the Indonesians and advance to the final.

Qatar pull off a major upset of the competition so far. The fourth-seed quartet of Jassim Al-Muraikhi, Saoud Ahmed Abdulla, Yousef Al Jaber and Ghanim Aboujassoum edged the mighty Koreans and top-seed, 827-802 to advance to the final.

Jassim led the team with 234, rookie Saoud managed 172, season campaigner Yousef 235 and Ghanim 186, relishing on the short oil pattern chosen by Korea. Choi Bok Eun shot 195, Cho Young Seon 202, debutant Kim Kyung Min 195 and anchorman, Kang Hee Won 210.

With the favourites Korea eliminated, Qatar and Chinese Taipei stand to record an historical victory in the 4-player team event tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Korea's Kim Moon Jeong, Hong Hae Ni, Baek Sung Ja and Jung Da Wun swept past fourth-seed foursome of Pan Yu-Fen, Lin Ting-Yu, Wang Ting-Wen and Wang Ya-Ting of Chinese Taipei, 942-830 in the first women's semi-final match to book their final spot.



Indonesian men winning their first medal


Second-seed, Liza Del Rosario, Alexis Sy, Lara Posadas and Krizziah Lynn Tabora of Philippines advanced to the finals with a victory over China's Zhang Chunli, Peng Rui, Yang Liyan and Zhang Yuhong, 780-737 in the second semi-finals to earn a crack at the title.

The Chinese quartet struggled on the short oil pattern chosen by the higher-seed Philippines and was unable to overcome their opponent. Chinese Taipei and China picked up their second bronze medals as losers. The consistent Korean women remained the firm favourite to take the gold medal when they face Philippines in the final, scheduled to start at 9.00am local time tomorrow.
