43rd WMA-Singha Thailand International Open

Indonesian leads Women's division

13th April, Bangkok: Sharon Limansantoso of Indonesia became the new leader of the Women's Open standings of the 43rd MWA-Thailand International Open after the second block while Hardy Rachmadian won Squad A on Thursday.


PWBA Rookie of the Year, New Hui Fen of Singapore continued to lead the pack after the first two games of the second block with her lead reduced to 35 pins ahead of Limansantoso. A solid 255 from the Indonesian gave her the lead by the same margin as the Singaporean stumbled to a 185 in the third game.

Despite a strong 224 in the fourth game, New bounced back with 255 to reduce the deficit to just four pins. Limansantoso ended with another good game of 214 to win the squad with 2096 from 10 games. New settled for second with 2072, 24 pins adrift.

Alisha Nabilla did well to end the second block with 1979 to take up third while Kritsanakorn Sangaroon and Thitima Thongsaard of Thailand rounded out the top five with 1976 and 1833 respectively.

After all four squads completed their second block, Limansantoso topped the overseas pool ahead of New in second. Squad D winner, Sin Li Jane of Malaysia clinched third spot with 2023. Tanarang Sathean, Kristsanakorn and defending champion, Yanee Saebe occupied the top 3 local spots with 1990, 1976 and 1886.

Esther Cheah headed the mixed pool with 2012 while Alisha ended in 11th. Tannya Roumimper of Indonesia finished in 16th position with 1912, Nadia Pramanik in 18th position with 1906. Putty Armein and Aldilla Indryati fell into the reserves pool in 31st and 35th. The cut at 22nd position went to Milki Ng of Hong Kong with 1848, averaging 183.80.


Meanwhile in the Men's Open division, Hardy Rachmadian snatched top spot in Squad A after the second block with 2174. Overnight squad winner, Lee Won Seok slipped down to second, seven pins behind the Indonesian on 2167.

After all squads completed their second block, overnight leader, Muhd Jaris Goh of Singapore extended his lead in the overseas pool with 2345. Squad B winner, Yang Nien-Hua of Chinese Taipei finished 98 pins behind the Singaporean on 2247.

Oku Keita of Singapore clinched third spot with 2198 after topping Squad D. Rachmadian, who was third before the final squad, slipped down to head the mixed pool. Lee Won Seok also slipped out of the top 3 in eighth position.

Hengki Susanto finished 17th with 2067, Yeri Ramadona and Ryan Lalisang tieing 19th position with 2062. Diwan Rezaldy and Billy Muhammad Islam have yet to make the cut finishing in 35th and 47th positions respectively.

Annop Aromsarannon became the new local pool leader with an improved 2042. Defending champion, Kim Bolleby and Yannaphon Larpapharat occupied second and third positions with 2032 and 2024.

There is a tie for the cut at 26th position going to Baek Jongyun of Korea and Andrew Frawley of Australia with 2024, averaging 202.40.The men and women will resume with their third and final block of five games tomorrow.
